Course MapThe scenic 5K course starts at University High School and then heads east on 116th Street. The course winds through West Park, Coxhall Gardens and a neighborhood before returning to University High School. Click here to view a map of the course. West Park is one of the most popular parks in the Carmel Clay parks system. It includes a native Indiana prairie maze, a stocked pond with a 910-foot boardwalk, a wetlands habitat, interactive water features, a 25-foot sledding hill and the Heritage Arboretum with 3,000 trees, and open meadows. Due to its creative design, West Park was recipient of the Indiana Park and Recreation Association's 2003 Outstanding Park Development Award. Two 90-foot bell towers grace both entrances of Coxhall Gardens. Scattered throughout the park are themed gardens, reflecting specific interests, cultures and plant types. There are gazebos, fountains and a children's garden with village stores, tiki huts, echo walls and peek-a-boo hills. This is a beautiful and innovative garden park. |
